The College

With the motto Satyam Vad Dharmam Char of the hindi Dept. Shirpur Education Society established the Arts college on 13, July, 1990 that time affiliated to the Pune University, Pune. Mr. S. V. Kulkarni was the first Principal of the college. At present, Dr. Sharda Shitole a great enthusiastic working as the Principal of this esteemed College.

Hindi Department

Needless to say that constitution of government of India has notified Hindi as National Language of India. Hindi Department is one of the important Departments in Arts faculty of the college, established in 1990. At the beginning, Hindi was taught at general level to this student of Arts. First head of the Department was Mrs. Meena Agrawal. She developed interest among students in Hindi. From the 1990-91 the subject Hindi was started to be taught at the special level. Gradually, the workload increased and Dr. S. S. Acharya was appointed in 16, Sep, 1991 to meet the requirement of the work. After that Dr. S. S Acharya initiated all the Hindi Departmental work in College. since then, Dr. S. S. Acharya is working as H. O. D. till this day.

When the students strength of students increased and a need for teacher was felt Smt. T. A. Patil was appointed on 7, Aug, 2006 in addition to regular studies, Co-curricular extra- curricular activities are also time to time conducted in the college, to enhance the intelligence and impart profound knowledge to the students. The department is now well-equipped with modern means of teaching, like a rich Library and audio-visual aids etc.

Besides, rich Library and good collection of reference books, along with standard Journals and Magazines for student to get an update knowledge of the subject.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • To create interest amongst students about Hindi language and literature.
  • To motivate students for study of Language and literature.
  • To introduce to the different literary forms.
  • To inspire students for wide reading and writing.
  • To acquaint students with the personalities of notable Hindi Celebrities.
  • To impart Knowledge of Hindi awards given on National level.
  • To create the feeling of respect and friendliness among students forward the National Language.
  • To give tips to the students to improve lucid writing and create topics on the subjects to the Hindi.

AT SPECIAL LEVEL

  • To create among students reading appreciation, examination, apprehension and evaluation of literature.
  • To offer thought-based introduction of ancient and modern verse & prose.
  • To develop literary approach among students by selecting and writing in the original topics.
  • To inculcate all human values, technical knowledge cultural knowledge.
  • To motivate students for debating and good speech.
  • To create multidimensional insight, regarding analysis, interpretation and critical appreciation among students.
  • To develop the power of perception amongst students.
  • To inspire and prepare students for the study of linguistics.
  • To prepare students for creative writing for their writing subjects.
  • To inspire students to utilize the creativity so as to make them successful creative writers.

 SWOC Analysis of the Department: Hindi

Strengths:

  • Department organizes several student centred curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities for their professional grooming.
  • Big contribution of students in College Gatherings, NSS activities, College magazine contribution, etc.
  • Good number of books in College library.
  • Fully qualified faculty for UG and PG

Weakness:

  • Less of students’ participation from rural area in dept. events due to time limits.
  • Need of more teaching faculty in proportion students’ enrollment.
  • Women’s College, hence limitations to stay on campus for long time.
  • Lack of separate ICT class for organizing lectures and events.

Opportunity:

  • Chances to develop a training and placement centre or finishing school to increase rate of employment.

 Challenges:

  • Rural intake of students fails to respond dept. activities.
  • Increase in drop outs at final year degree since marriage becomes a hurdle.
  • Need of increase in ICT for all classes

Future Plans of the Department:

  • To concentrate upon introducing more skill development courses
  • To start departmental library and increase e-access to several resources
  • To get associated/ clubbed with national/ international universities/ agencies
  • To increase students’ participation at institutional and social responsibilities
