Computer Education

Computer department in the college got established in 2002.We have quality of lab for the FY, SY, TYBA and MA students. We have quality of lab for the FY, SY, TYBA and MA students. We have provision of broadband internet connection. The labs are well-equipped with latest configured computers. Sufficient number of books is available in the college library related to computer application. We have 21 computers – DELL made, a laser printer and LCD projector.

SWOC Analysis of the Department:

Strength:

  • Department organizes several student centered curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities for their professional grooming.
  • Having a Computer lab with 16 computers with required softwares and internet connection.
  • Big contribution of students in College Gatherings, NSS activities, Sports, College magazine contribution, etc.
  • Good number of books in College library.
  • Fully qualified faculty for UG and COCs.
  • Computer basics trainings for students and staff.
  • Career oriented courses for job opportunities.

Weakness:

  • Less no. of students’ participation from rural area in dept. events due to time limits.
  • Women’s College, hence limitations to stay on campus for long time.

Opportunity:

  • Opportunities to COC students to develop technical skills.
  • Availability of jobs for careerists
  • Chances to develop a training and placement centre or finishing school to increase rate of employment.

Challenges:

  • Need to develop more Technical and software skills.
  • Rural intake of students fails to respond dept. activities.
  • Increase in drop outs at final year degree since marriage becomes a hurdle.
  • Need of increase in ICT for all classes.

 

Future Plans of the Department:

  • To concentrate upon introducing more software skill development courses
  • To start departmental library and increase e-access to several resources
  • To get associated/ clubbed with national/ international universities/ agencies
  • To enable students strengthen their placement competency.
  • To help tribal and rural students avail more job opportunities.
