About the College

The Shirpur Education Society’s Smt. H. R. Patel Arts Mahila College was established in 1990 with a generous vision of Hon’ble Shri. Amrishbhai R. Patel (MLC, Ex. Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra) to impart quality higher education to the tribal and rural girl students of the area.

The College was started with a sublime aim to bring women students from rural and tribal area in the main stream of higher education. Most of the students from these areas are the first generation learners whom the College offers an opportunity to make them self-reliant. The College looks forward for educating and empowering girl students from tribal, rural, socially and economically backward sections of society. Nearly 70-75 % of students come from rural and tribal area where there is a considerable percentage of socially and educationally deprived students.

The College is affiliated to Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. It is recognized as a Linguistic Minority Institute (Gujarati Minority) by the Govt. of Maharashtra and has received UGC, New Delhi 2(f) and 12(b) recognition. It had got accredited in July 2004 obtaining ‘B’ grade in the first cycle and re-accredited in March 2015 securing “A” Grade with CGPA 3.02. Recently the college is awarded “A” Grade (73%) in the University conducted Academic Audit-2019 as per the directions of the Maharashtra University Act-July 2016.

The College imparts quality higher education and gets actively participated in national integration, community development, value education programs through the noble vision and guidance of Hon’ble, Shri Amrishbhai Patel (President, SES), Shri. Bhupeshbhai Patel (Executive President) Shri. Rajgopalji Bhandari (Vice-President), Shri Prabhakarrao Chavan, (Secretary, SES), with the incessant support and encouragement of Prin. Dr. K. B. Patil (Former VC, NMU, Jalgaon and the Director, SES), and with the perseverance in planning and implementation of Principal Dr. Sharda J. Shitole.
